Environmental Action Projects

The Saskatchewan Outdoor and Environmental Education Association has funds available to assist community and/or school groups carry out environmental action projects for recreational and/or educational purposes.

General Guidelines:

  • A student group/organization may apply only once per year for the EAP assistance.
  • The amount granted will not exceed $750.00.
  • Eighty percent of the assistance will be allocated upon approval of the project. Recipients will receive the remaining twenty percent once the final report of the project has been submitted. The final report must be received by SOEEA within a year after approval of the project.
  • Funds may not be used for capital expenditures (eg. purchase of equipment).
  • Recipients of the EAP assistance must recognize SOEEA and SaskLotteries as sponsors in any publication or promotion related to the project.

The following criteria will be used for approval and selection of assistance applications:

  1. Does the project improve the quality of the social and natural environment? (e.g., uses native plants to improve wildlife habitat, reduces the use of fossil fuels, challenges consumption habits)
  2. Is there an educational component that challenges participants’ thinking and encourages long-term changes in behaviour? (e.g., promotes participant reflection about climate change and decision to use alternatives to auto transportation; involves researching alternatives to chemical mosquito spraying and presents a proposal to the local municipality)
  3. Preferred consideration will be given to projects that:
  • promote an active, healthy lifestyle
  • promote an appreciation for the natural environment
  • develop participants’ leadership skills

The initial application for the assistance must include:

  1. A tentative budget indicating expected expenditures and revenues.
  2. The name of the organization to whom the cheque is to be made out. Note: Cheques will not be made out to individuals.
