Board of Directors

Audrey Aamodt
President
Growing up on a Saskatchewan farm (near Kelliher) fostered Audrey’s avid love for the prairies. The simple yet complex qualities of nature entice her to spend time outdoors. This craving to appreciate Life and Earth matches her desire to encourage others to develop a sense of place, a deeper awareness of our natural surroundings. Following her five year career as a secondary math and biology teacher, Audrey completed a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communication through Royal Roads University. Her research focused on some experiences of Community-Supported Agriculture participants in Saskatchewan, as she is passionate about the potential for Environmental Education within local food markets. Inspired by an excerpt from The Summer Day by Mary Oliver – “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Audrey is thrilled to work with the SOEEA, delighted to unite her outdoor interests with environmental education.
Kyle Lichtenwald
Past President
Kyle Lichtenwald (B.Admn, B.Ed) has always been at home in the outdoors. Whether ice fishing at Madge Lake, canoeing the North Saskatchewan or roaming across the prairie landscape on random and sometimes spontaneous adventures. Kyle recognizes the valuable learning opportunities that present themselves within natural environments and loves to share these opportunities with youth. Thankfully SOEEA has provided Kyle with the training, networking and background expertise to enhance his teaching practice and philosophies in the area of outdoor and environmental education. Kyle looks forward to continued excursions, conversations and connections with SOEEA members. See you Outside!
Karen McIver
Vice President
Karen has been involved in the field of environmental education for a number of years in Saskatchewan with strong interests in place-based learning and creating meaningful connections between youth and natural ecosystems. Karen is involved in community outreach and awareness about nature through volunteering with SOEEA (since 2006) as well as co-coordinating the Reconnecting to Natural Prairie Ecosystems Working Group with the Regional Centre of Expertise in Saskatchewan (since 2009). Karen has worked for Nature Saskatchewan and the Prairie Conservation Action Plan and currently works for Regina Public School Division as a Trek School Teacher for a grade eleven outdoor school. She has a Bachelor of Education (science) from the University of Regina and is currently working on a Masters of Education in the Department of Educational Foundations.
Mark Wilson

I am currently working at Grant Road School as the grade 8 teacher. My class is heavily involved in the outdoors. I grew up in Regina and my entire family are nature nuts. I have had the opportunity to work for the Regina School Outdoor ed department and been involved in many other environmental organizations.
Angela Edmunds
Program Director
Angela is a Saskatchewan artist who calls the Qu'Appelle Valley home. Her video work has been screened across Canada and internationally. She has worked with several organizations across the province to document innovative community based projects. Much of her work has been created working with youth, as she has a personal interest in project-based learning and reconnecting youth to nature. She's currently working with her partner to transform their backyard into a food forest so that the grocery store is only a step away!
